Michael Porter Jr. will miss his first game of the season on Wednesday due to lumbar management.

Porter could return to the Denver Nuggets' lineup on Friday against the Utah Jazz.

Porter underwent the third back surgery of his career last November. 

Jamal Murray hasn't played in an NBA game since April 12, 2021. After a long year-and-a-half, Murray should make his return on Wednesday night.

Denver Nuggets coach Michael Malone said Murray "should be good to go" when the Nuggets open their season at the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. Murray has been limited recently with a sore hamstring. Most importantly, Murray's left knee feels good, and he's had no issues since camp began.

Murray tore his left ACL in that mid-April 2021 game against the Golden State Warriors. There were points where it looked like Murray might return for Denver last season, but both player and team felt he wasn't quite ready.

Murray rejoins the Nuggets in a season where Denver has considerable expectations. Nikola Jokic is coming off back-to-back MVP seasons, Michael Porter Jr. is healthy again, the Nuggets added a lot of depth this offseason.

The Denver Nuggets waived Kellan Grady, league sources told Keith Smith of Spotrac.

Grady averaged 11.4 points in 34 games for the Kentucky Wildcats last season. 

The Denver Nuggets have signed guard Chasson Randle to an Exhibit 10 contract.

Randle, 6-3, 185, has appeared in 119 games (seven starts) over four seasons with Philadelphia, New York, Golden State and Orlando. He holds career averages of 5.7 points, 1.8 assists and 1.4 rebounds in 16.1 minutes per game while shooting 40.1% from the field and 36.1% from three. Randle went undrafted in the 2015 NBA draft after spending four seasons at Stanford University.

The Denver Nuggets have waived Adonis Arms and Grant Golden. Both Arms and Golden were signed to non-guaranteed training camp deals.

Neither Arms nor Golden saw action in the Nuggets preseason contests. Both Arms and Golden are expected to play for Denver's G League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Gold, this upcoming season.

The Denver Nuggets have picked up their third-year rookie scale team option for guard Bones Hyland. Hyland will be under contract for $2.3 million for the 2023-24 season.

As a rookie, Hyland averaged 10.1 points in 19 minutes per game off Denver's bench. As a second-year player, Hyland is expected to take on a bigger role for the Nuggets. The 6-foot-3 guard should be the primary backup for Jamal Murray, after Denver traded Monte Morris to the Washington Wizards in the offseason.

The Denver Nuggets picked up Zeke Nnaji's fourth-year option, sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Nnaji averaged 6.6 points in 41 games last season.

Calvin Booth received a contract extension from the Denver Nuggets through the 2024-25 season, sources told Mike Singer of The Denver Post.

Singer adds that the majority of the Nuggets' front office also received extensions, ensuring continuity.

Booth took over as the general manager of the Nuggets following Tim Connelly's departure to the Wolves this summer.
